PUDU BG1: The world's first AI-native large-scale scrubber-dryer

Keeping large areas clean, dry and cost-effective is one of the most labour-intensive facility management tasks for many companies. The PUDU BG1 series is the first to consistently combine two worlds: precise mechanical cleaning technology and adaptive artificial intelligence. As the world’s first AI-native large-scale scrubber-dryer, the BG1 sweeps, scrubs, polishes and dries in a single pass – fully autonomously, round the clock and to a consistently high standard. Choose between the PUDU BG1 for reliable continuous use over large areas, or the PUDU BG1 Pro with enhanced edge cleaning, vehicle detection and a ride-on function for particularly demanding environments such as underground car parks.

Advantages of the PUDU BG1 Series Over Traditional Cleaning Methods

Cost savings through automation

With a cleaning capacity of up to 2,000 m²/h in area mode and 6,000 m²/h in AI-assisted spot cleaning mode, a single BG1 can handle the workload that would traditionally require several cleaning staff working in shifts. This significantly reduces staff costs without compromising on cleaning coverage.

Consistently high cleaning standards around the clock

Unlike human cleaning staff, the BG1 never tires. Thanks to its automatic docking station for water, cleaning agents and electricity, it is ready for use 24/7 and delivers the same thorough performance with every pass – from early morning right through to the night shift.

Smart AI-powered cleaning instead of rigid cleaning schedules

The integrated AI detects stains and dirt in real time, automatically adjusts brush pressure and the amount of cleaning agent to the level of soiling, and immediately reduces the sweeping modules when it detects moisture to prevent dirt from being spread. Using dirt heatmaps from previous cleaning cycles, problem areas are targeted and cleaned more quickly – ensuring traceable, data-driven cleaning quality rather than relying on gut instinct.

Resource efficiency through automatic dosing

Two separate detergent tanks with a combined capacity of 7 litres mix detergents with millilitre precision and in real time – from acid and alkali cleaners to disinfectants and polishes. This prevents over- or under-dosing, reduces chemical consumption and, thanks to the large water tank capacity of 75 litres for fresh water and 60 litres for waste water, keeps operating costs down.

Please note: Do not use ordinary household cleaning products or heavily foaming cleaning agents. These are generally not suitable for professional scrubber-dryer robots such as the PUDU BG1 series, as excessive foaming can impair the absorption of dirty water, reduce cleaning performance and increase maintenance requirements. To ensure safe and cost-effective operation, you should therefore only use suitable, machine-compatible and low-foaming cleaning agents.

Minimal maintenance required

The BG1 is the world’s first cleaning robot with automatic windscreen brush fitting. Combined with the tool-free plug-in system for all wear parts, daily maintenance takes less than a minute – with no need for specialist technical staff.

PUDU BG1 vs. PUDU BG1 Pro – An Overview of the Differences

Both models share the same high-performance platform: a compact 550 mm scrubbing width (708 mm with brushes), the 48V battery system with 90 Ah (equivalent to 180 Ah on a 24V platform) and up to 7.5 hours’ battery runtime in combined sweeping/scrubbing mode. The difference lies in the equipment designed for particularly complex or safety-critical operating environments:

PUDU BG1 is the obvious choice for large indoor areas such as warehouses, supermarkets or production facilities ranging from 2,500 to over 10,000 m² of floor space. Navigation is achieved via a combined LiDAR and 3D VSLAM fusion system, which enables reliable, precise trajectories even in dynamic environments. The system can be controlled entirely via Wi-Fi.

PUDU BG1 Pro has been developed to take things to the next level: The device features an additional 3D LiDAR for even more robust environmental perception, an actively extendable window brush for cleaning right up to walls and shelf edges, and integrated vehicle detection, which allows the robot to navigate safely and without collisions even in underground car parks and on car parks. The package is complemented by semi-automatic water refilling with an automatic shut-off when the tank is full, a control panel with a joystick, emergency stop button and storage compartment, as well as a ride-on mode that allows staff to manually guide the robot for initial set-up, mapping or spontaneous special tasks (spot cleaning). This increases the maximum cleaning area per operation to over 10,000 m² – ideal for multi-storey car parks and other large, open-plan areas.

Quick Payback and Long Service Life

Overall, the PUDU BG1 series pays for itself in practice usually within a few months – depending on the size of the premises, previous staffing costs and the shift pattern.

The service life of a wet and dry vacuum cleaner depends primarily on the frequency of use, maintenance and the quality of the appliance. In professional use, the typical service life is often several years. The key factor is whether wear parts are replaced regularly and whether the tanks, brushes, suction bars and drive components are consistently maintained.

With a modern solution designed for large areas such as the PUDU BG1, several features ensure high practicality for everyday use and a long service life: a 48V platform with a 90 Ah battery capacity, up to 7.5 hours’ running time, automatic voltage detection during charging, and a low-maintenance design. According to the manufacturer, key consumables can be replaced particularly quickly thanks to the snap-on concept, and the automatic disc brush installation further reduces the amount of manual work required. This can simplify regular maintenance and reduce downtime.

For facility managers and professional cleaning companies, therefore, it is not just the technical service life that counts, but also the economic service life. This is significantly extended if the machine:

  • is used in accordance with the size of the area,
  • is cleaned and serviced regularly,
  • is operated using suitable cleaning agents,
  • ensures that brushes, suction lips and filters are replaced in good time,
  • Charging cycles and batteries must be handled correctly.

In short: a professional wet and dry vacuum cleaner can operate reliably for many years if it is designed for continuous commercial use and is consistently maintained.

What is the difference between a scrubber-dryer and a single-disc machine?

A scrubber-dryer and a single-disc machine differ primarily in terms of their function, operating procedure and area of application:

Scrubber-dryer

  • Cleans the floor in a single pass by scrubbing and simultaneously vacuuming up the dirty water.
  • It is particularly suitable for regular maintenance cleaning of large hard-floor areas.
  • The floor is usually immediately ready for use again, as the dirty water is absorbed straight away.
  • It is designed for efficiency, area coverage and consistent cleaning results.

Single-disc machine

  • It works with a rotating disc or brush, but does not have a built-in suction system like a scrubber-dryer.
  • It is mainly used for deep cleaning, polishing, shampooing or specialised maintenance tasks.
  • This often requires several steps as well as additional equipment, for example to collect the liquid.
  • This is usually advisable when intensive groundwork, maintenance or restoration is required.

In short:

The scrubber-dryer is the better choice for the quick and cost-effective cleaning of large areas whilst operations are ongoing. The single-disc machine offers greater flexibility for specialised cleaning and maintenance tasks, but is usually more labour-intensive in day-to-day use.

Autonomous scrubber-dryers are particularly suitable for large commercial and industrial areas. The PUDU BG1 cleans hard floors using One-Pass Sweep & Scrub – that is, sweeping and scrubbing in a single pass – achieving a cleaning width of 550 mm or 708 mm with side brushes and covering up to 6,000 m²/h in spot-cleaning mode. With 75 L of fresh water, 60 L of dirty water, an operating time of up to 7.5 h and extendable edge cleaning, it is designed for professional floor cleaning with minimal manual reworking.
